Something Old, Something New and Something Gold

Is gold really the new trend for wedding decoration?

The combination of aqua and gold is the new trend for weddings. From a gold standard cake, through a shimmering altar to a monogrammed stationary, even the most subtle application of gold will have an immense impact on your guests. Combined with aqua blue nuances it will look dashing and yet not flashy.

First, let me tell you a few things about the symbolic meaning of these two colors. In ancient times gold was used to symbolize the balance in all things. So, it is perfect for wedding ceremonies since balance is the most essential ingredient for every marriage. By choosing gold you will show everyone that you are wise enough to make the big step and to begin a harmonious life with someone else. Moreover, gold is in unison with the approaching autumn and it will create the perfect atmosphere for your ceremony during this time of the year.

Blue, on the other hand, is the color of sincerity, spirituality and inspiration. It is not dashing like gold but it is believed to have a calming effect and that is precisely why it is perfect for your wedding. While gold will attract the attention of your guests and will make you feel like a royalty, blue will reduce the tension a little.

Here are some of the best applications of gold and aqua for your wedding:

  • Even the standard white cake may look magnificently if you brush edible luster dust on it. It will be even better if the cake has ornamentation imitating foliage – in this way you will create the illusion of real autumn leaves.
  • Have a shimmering altar for your wedding. Your initials (your husband’s and yours) can be formed out of the leaves of flowers sprayed with gold paint and attached to a wire frame. Just be careful with the gilded objects and make sure to use aquamarine ribbons for the chairs to soften the effect of the gold.
  • Last but not least, the combination of gold and aqua looks fascinating on wedding stationary. The golden letters look royally while the pale blue cover stands for stylish simplicity. In this way your invitation will look both impressive and classy and who knows, they may lead into a new trend for weddings.

So, gold is trendy this year. Combine it with aqua blue, so that you can be certain that you are not going form chick to kitsch and everything will be just perfect on your Big Day.
