Damien Scott

Damien Scott is the deputy editorial director of Billboard. Since joining in the summer of 2023, he’s overseen the outlet’s hip-hop coverage, working with the team’s editors and writers to produce content in the form of daily news, interviews and lists across the brand’s owned and operated platforms. He’s profiled rap and R&B superstars like A$AP Rocky and Ty Dolla $ign for the cover of the magazine. In addition to helping ideate and produce content for brand partners, he also works closely with the events team to produce Billboard’s annual Hip-Hop Power Players event. Damien also produces and co-hosts Billboard’s weekly hip-hop show, Unfiltered. For more than 15 years, Damien has covered music, pop culture, consumer technology and automotive culture for several magazines and digital publications. Before joining Billboard, he was the editor-in-chief of Complex and the president of Dreamville Records. When he’s not listening to ‘90s rap and R&B, he’s watching motor sports or reading books about vintage race cars.
