Stephen Daw

Pride Editor

Stephen (he/him) is an award-winning journalist who serves as the pride editor at Billboard. Since joining Billboard’s staff as an intern in 2018, he has covered music news from across genres, including pop, rock, hip-hop, R&B, dance and country. He has interviewed legends including Madonna, Queen and Cyndi Lauper; spotlighted up-and-coming artists through interviews and weekly columns; and reported on industrywide trends. As Billboard’s pride editor and a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, Stephen has dedicated much of his career to covering LGBTQ+ artists. Along with reporting on inclusivity in concert venues, representation behind the scenes at major music companies and the spread of anti-LGBTQ+ misinformation, he has worked diligently to highlight queer talent and give them a space to speak directly to their community. His June 2023 cover story, “A Kiki For Change” — featuring Maren Morris and drag stars Sasha Colby, Symone, Eureka O’Hara and Landon Cider speaking about drag bans across the United States — won the GLAAD Media Award for outstanding print article. Stephen’s work has appeared in publications including Rolling Stone, Entertainment Tonight and RadioTimes. Outside of work, he enjoys piña coladas, getting caught in the rain and clichéd song lyrics.
